The brief

A water bottling plant is a motor-heavy installation. Heaven Cool Aqua Minerals at Koodaranji needed the electrical works for a production line built around pumps, compressors, an RO/treatment section, filling and capping machinery and conveyor drives — loads that start hard, run continuously, and drag the power factor down if the distribution is not designed for them. We handled the panels and the plant installation together.

What we did

• Fabricated and supplied the main LT panel and the motor control centre, with starters, overload relays and protection rated and coordinated for each drive on the line
• Installed 3-phase distribution to the treatment section, the filling and capping machines and the conveyor drives, sizing cables and protection to the actual motor ratings rather than to a nominal figure
• Wired the raw water and process pumps and the air compressor on dedicated feeders with star-delta / DOL starting as suited to each machine
• Installed an APFC panel with capacitor banks to hold the power factor above 0.95 and keep the plant clear of KSEB penalty on the sanctioned load
• Provided a proper industrial earthing system — separate pits for the panel, the MCC and the machine bodies, tested and maintained within limits
• Coordinated the KSEB load sanction and the Electrical Inspectorate approval for the industrial connection

Outcome

Panels supplied, plant wired, tested and handed over with a complete documentation file for KSEB and the Electrical Inspectorate.
