Panel Board Supply in Kozhikode & Wayanad

Panel board supply and installation in Kozhikode and Wayanad — LT, MCC, APFC, and distribution boards.

What this covers

A panel board is the point where incoming supply is split, switched, metered, and protected. Get it wrong and it is the component the Electrical Inspectorate stops at, and the component that fails first in Kerala humidity. We supply and install LT panels, motor control centres, APFC panels, and distribution boards, built to the actual measured load of your site rather than a catalogue guess — and wired so an inspector can read them.

What's included

  • Main LT panel — sheet steel enclosure (typically 14/16 SWG, powder coated), MCCB or ACB incomer sized to the sanctioned load, busbar sized in aluminium or copper to the fault level, outgoing MCCB/MCB feeders, and CT-operated ammeter/voltmeter with selector switches.
  • Motor control centre (MCC) — DOL and star-delta starters, overload relays, single-phasing preventer, contactors and control wiring for pump, chiller, lift, and machine loads.
  • APFC panel — automatic power factor correction with capacitor banks, detuned reactors where harmonics are present, and an APFC relay with stage-wise switching to hold power factor and avoid the KSEB penalty.
  • Distribution boards — TPN and SPN DBs, phase-segregated, with MCBs, RCCBs (30 mA on final circuits), and neutral and earth bars properly terminated and identified.
  • Changeover and DG panel — manual changeover or AMF panel with mains/DG sensing so essential loads pick up on an outage.
  • Protection and IP rating — MCCB, MCB, RCCB, SPD, and enclosure IP rating chosen for the environment — coastal Kozhikode salt air and Wayanad damp are not the same as a dry indoor plant room.
  • Labelling, ferruling, and drawings — every core ferruled, every feeder labelled, and a panel GA and wiring schematic handed over with the panel. This is what turns an inspection into a walkthrough.

Who this is for

  • Factories and workshops — MCC and starter panels for motor loads, with power factor correction sized to the plant.
  • Resorts — main LT panel plus block-wise sub-distribution and DG changeover across scattered buildings.
  • Hospitals — essential/non-essential feeder separation and UPS-fed DBs where continuity is not optional.
  • Commercial buildings and shops — meter boards, tenant-wise DBs, and a main panel that supports future load addition.
  • Mosque and church committees — a clean, labelled, sanctioned panel that any future electrician can work on without guessing.
  • Apartment builders — per-unit meter boards and DBs prepared for individual KSEB metering.

How it works

  1. Load and fault-level assessment. We take the connected load, maximum demand, and supply type, and establish the incomer rating, busbar size, and short-circuit withstand the panel must carry. The panel is designed to your load, not sold off a shelf.
  2. Panel design and approval. General arrangement drawing, single line diagram, and bill of materials with the actual switchgear makes and ratings, sent to you for approval before fabrication. No substitutions without telling you.
  3. Fabrication and factory testing. Enclosure, busbar, switchgear mounting, control wiring, ferruling and labelling. Continuity, insulation resistance, and functional checks are done before the panel leaves for site.
  4. Installation, commissioning, and documentation. Foundation, panel placement, cable termination and glanding, earthing of the panel body to two separate earth pits, phase sequence check, and load-on commissioning — followed by the test report, GA drawing, and schematic for your inspection file.

Common questions

What is an APFC panel and do I actually need one?

An APFC panel automatically switches capacitor banks in and out to keep your power factor near unity. If you run motors, pumps, chillers, or lifts, your power factor drops and KSEB levies a penalty on the bill. For most industrial and larger commercial connections the panel pays for itself out of the penalty it removes. For a small domestic connection, it is not needed.

Can you build a panel to match my existing one?

Yes. We take the existing panel's incomer rating, busbar size, feeder list, and switchgear make, and either match it for a like-for-like replacement or design an upgraded version if your load has grown. Bring us a photo of the existing panel's inside and the KSEB bill to start.

What switchgear brands do you use?

We work with standard reputable makes — the exact brand is listed in the bill of materials you approve before fabrication, so there is no ambiguity. If you have a preferred make already installed elsewhere on the site, we will build to it for spares consistency.

Will the panel pass Electrical Inspectorate approval?

That is what the labelling, ferruling, earthing, clearances, and IP rating are for. Panels we supply are built to be inspected — with the GA drawing, schematic, and test report in the file. Where the installation falls under Inspectorate jurisdiction, we handle that submission as part of our KSEB and Inspectorate documentation service.
