Electrical Contracting in Kozhikode & Wayanad
Licensed electrical contracting for resorts, hospitals, factories, and homes across Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Malappuram.
What this covers
Electrical contracting is the physical work of putting power into a building — conduit, cable, panels, earthing, fittings, and the final connection to the KSEB supply. E Core Engineering is a Kerala Electrical Licensing Board approved contractor, so the installation we hand over is one the Electrical Inspectorate and KSEB can actually sign off on. This is for anyone building or rewiring a structure that needs a sanctioned connection, not just a plug point.
What's included
- LT internal wiring — concealed conduit or surface casing, FR/FRLS copper cable sized to load, single-phase and 3-phase circuits, separate circuits for lighting, power, AC, and pumps.
- Main and sub distribution boards — MCB, RCCB (30 mA for socket and lighting circuits, 100/300 mA upstream), MCCB incomers, isolators, and proper phase balancing across R-Y-B.
- LT panel and HT-side coordination — main LT panel installation, cable termination, and coordination with the KSEB transformer / HT metering point where the sanctioned load requires it.
- Earthing systems — pipe or plate earthing pits as per IS 3043, separate body and neutral earths, earth resistance measured and recorded, equipotential bonding for wet areas and plant rooms.
- Lightning protection and surge — down conductors, air terminals, and SPDs at the main panel for hill-slope and open sites in Wayanad and the Kozhikode uplands.
- Point wiring, fixtures, and fittings — light points, socket outlets, industrial sockets, fans, exhaust, emergency and exit lighting for commercial occupancies.
- DG changeover and backup integration — manual or automatic changeover, DG feeder, and load segregation so essential circuits stay live during a KSEB outage.
- Testing and handover documentation — insulation resistance test, earth continuity, polarity check, and the completion certificate and test report set the Inspectorate requires.
Who this is for
- Resorts and homestays — multi-block sites in Wayanad and Kozhikode with distributed loads, DG backup, and guest-safety exposure.
- Hospitals and clinics — essential/non-essential circuit separation, UPS-backed circuits, and RCCB protection where inspection scrutiny is highest.
- Mosques, churches, and community halls — committee-managed buildings needing a clean, sanctioned installation and a paper trail the committee can hold.
- Factories and workshops — 3-phase motor loads, machine feeders, MCC connections, and power factor correction.
- Builders and apartment developers — repeatable multi-unit wiring with meter boards and per-unit DBs ready for individual KSEB metering.
- Homeowners — new houses, rewiring of old aluminium-wired houses, and load enhancement for AC and solar.
How it works
- Site assessment and load estimate. We visit the site, walk the plan or the existing structure, list the connected load appliance by appliance, and arrive at the connected load and maximum demand in kW. That number drives everything downstream — cable size, DB rating, and the load you apply to KSEB for.
- Design and material specification. Circuit layout, cable schedule, DB schedule, and earthing scheme, sized to IE Rules and CEA (Measures relating to Safety and Electric Supply) Regulations. You get a written material list with brands and ratings before any purchase, so you know exactly what is going into your wall.
- Execution. Conduit and boxing during civil work, cable pulling, DB and panel installation, earthing pit excavation and construction, fixture installation, and phase balancing. Work is done under our KLB licence, which is what makes the installation eligible for approval.
- Testing, documentation, and handover. Insulation resistance, earth resistance, and continuity tests are carried out and recorded. We prepare the completion certificate and test report, file with the Electrical Inspectorate and KSEB where applicable, and hand over the as-executed drawing and DB schedule.
Common questions
Do I need a licensed electrical contractor for KSEB connection in Kerala?
Yes. For a new service connection, KSEB requires a completion certificate and test report signed by a contractor holding a valid Kerala Electrical Licensing Board licence. An unlicensed wireman can physically wire a building, but the paperwork will not be accepted and the connection will not be released. For larger installations the Electrical Inspectorate must also approve before energisation.
How much does house wiring cost in Kozhikode?
It depends on the number of points, the cable brand and size, whether the wiring is concealed or surface, and the number of earthing pits. Rather than quote a per-point figure blindly, we do the load estimate and material list first and give you an itemised quote in rupees. That way you are comparing like with like when you look at other quotes.
Can you rewire an old house without breaking all the walls?
Usually yes, in part. Where the old conduit is intact and large enough, new cable can be drawn through it. Where the house has direct-buried or aluminium wiring, or the conduit is too small for a modern cable size, some chipping is unavoidable. We assess this at the site visit and tell you honestly how much civil work to budget for.
What is RCCB and is it compulsory?
An RCCB (residual current circuit breaker) trips when current leaks to earth — the fault that causes electric shock. Under CEA safety regulations, earth leakage protection is required on installations, and it is a point of inspection. We fit 30 mA RCCBs on socket and lighting circuits as standard, and it is the single component we will not let a client economise on.
Do you work outside Kozhikode?
We take work across Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Malappuram districts. Call +91 80865 45841 with the site location and we will tell you straight away whether it is within our working range.
