Misty Queen Resort

The brief

Misty Queen Resort sits high in the Kakkadampoyil hills, where the supply is long-tailed, the rain is relentless for months, and guest comfort cannot depend on the grid behaving. The client needed a full electrical installation covering guest cottages, the kitchen block, pumping and lighting — designed so that a voltage dip or a wet season did not become a guest complaint.

What we did

• Designed and installed the 3-phase LT distribution, with sub-distribution boards zoned per cottage block so a fault in one room never darkens the rest of the property
• Wired guest room DBs with individual MCB/RCBO protection, and separated the kitchen block onto its own heavy-duty circuits for the cold room, exhaust and cooking equipment
• Built dedicated circuits for the water pump house and the overhead tank pumping set, with proper motor protection and level control
• Installed dusk-to-dawn landscape and pathway lighting on timer/photocell control, using IP-rated fittings and gland entries suited to hill-station rainfall
• Provided generator changeover with clear essential/non-essential segregation, so guest rooms, water and security lighting stay live during an outage
• Ran separate earthing pits for the kitchen block and the pump house, tested and maintained within limits, with monsoon-resistant earth pit chambers
• Prepared and coordinated the KSEB load sanction and Electrical Inspectorate documentation for the sanctioned load

Outcome

Installed, tested, and handed over with a complete documentation file for KSEB and the Electrical Inspectorate.
