Puliyampat Ayurvedic Hospital

The brief

A hospital cannot treat power the way a commercial building does. Puliyampat Ayurvedic Hospital at Meppadi needed an installation where treatment rooms, wards, the pharmacy and the equipment areas each have their own supply discipline — and where a grid failure does not take out lighting or critical equipment. We were engaged for both the design consultation and the contracting.

What we did

• Split the entire installation into essential and non-essential distribution, so that wards, treatment rooms, corridors and equipment circuits ride through an outage while general and comfort loads drop off
• Designed the 3-phase LT distribution with floor-wise and department-wise sub-DBs, keeping treatment areas isolated from utility and kitchen loads
• Provided a clean, dedicated earthing system for diagnostic and treatment equipment, with a separate low-resistance earth pit kept independent of the general body earth
• Installed RCBO protection through patient and treatment areas, and wired UPS-backed circuits for equipment and record-keeping that cannot tolerate a break in supply
• Set up generator changeover on the essential bus, with the changeover panel sized and coordinated to the sanctioned load
• Wired the therapy blocks, steam and boiler areas, and the pump house on separate protected circuits, with wet-area fittings and gland entries rated for the Wayanad climate

Outcome

Installed, tested, and handed over with a complete documentation file for KSEB and the Electrical Inspectorate.
